BECOMING A MEMBER

Membership into ALIANZA is open to all members of the business community and automatically extends membership into The Greater Des Moines Partnership to new members. Existing Partnership members can select ALIANZA as an affiliate membership. Membership categories are structured as follows:

Hispanic Business Owner – a business whose ownership totals 51% or more in Hispanic descent.
Hispanic Professional – a business person of Hispanic descent working for any business, Hispanic-owned or otherwise
Individual/Professional Member – a non-Latino business person working for any business, Hispanic-owned or otherwise
Non-Profit/Government Member – any not-for-profit or governmental organization interested in membership
Students – any full-time enrolled students interested in membership


DUES STRUCTURE

First-time Partnership and ALIANZA member dues are $190 for the first membership year (subsequent years follow the dues schedule set by the Partnership)

Existing Partnership member dues are $35 per year

Marketing Opportunities
• Listing of the member business (contact information, Internet link, etc.) in the Partnerhip’s printed membership directory. Over 6,000 copies are distributed in the greater Des Moines area.
• Listing of the member business (contact information, Internet link, etc.) on the ALIANZA and Partnership Web sites.
• Every new member is mentioned in the Partnership’s “New View” newsletter sent via e-mail to over 5,000 addresses and inserted into the Des Moines Business Record, a business weekly newspaper read by over 24,480 each week.
• Distribution of promotional materials for all members at events such as: Iowa Latino Conference, Latino Heritage Festival, Wells Fargo Food Festival.

Social & Networking Events
• Printed, electronic and fax invitations to attend social and networking events sponsored by ALIANZA and the Partnership. These include: Business After Hours, Breakfast Before Business, Pachanga Nights and Multicultural Receptions among other events.

Recruitment & Retention
• Resources for recruiting and retaining new employees, including an electronic job board to advertise new positions and a database to search for new recruits.

Business Support Programs
• A business support network by Latino business people for Latino business owners to share viewpoints, solve problems and better resolve business issues.
• Qualified referrals from ALIANZA members directing prospects to member businesses.
• Informal meeting sessions where business owners can find a support forum, obtain qualified referrals, and learn from other owner’s viewpoints to resolve business issues.

Sponsorship Opportunities
“Business After Hours”

• Opportunity to host business receptions attracting an average of 250 people to the host business. Includes promotional assistance from the Partnership via fax and e-mail to the general Partnership membership.

“Pachanga Nights”
• Opportunity to host Pachanga Nights, attracting an average of 50 people per event to the host business. Includes promotional assistance from the Partnership and ALIANZA via fax, regular mail and e-mail. The host business will appear in the socials page of “El Latino” Newspaper. and several on-air mentions with “La Indomable.”

Involvement
• Opportunity to participate on the board of directors of ALIANZA or the Partnership to promote the interests of the Latino business community in the Des Moines area.
